Savage attacks on local cattle are investigated by unconventional Professor Harlin Thompson, who is puzzled to discover that the teeth marks are not those of wolves but bear a strong resemblance to those of a domestic dog. An annual dog show at the University is abandoned when the dogs turn on their handlers. Whilst Thompson tries to discover the reason for the attacks, outside, the dogs have grouped ready to slaughter every human on the campus.
