Judged as delinquents beyond redemption by the courts, five young Miami tearways are sentenced to a gruelling detention project in the Florida swamps. Warring amongst themselves, and forced to survive on their own, they meet Joe Tiger, a tough Vietnam veteran who’s determined to turn the 'social rejects’ around. After passing a rigorous series of survival tests, they finally join forces as the 'Band of the Hand’ and move into the even tougher turf of the Miami ghetto. But making it on the streets becomes a battle for survival against the local crime barons.
